Firearm Used In Robbery Recovered: Verulam - KZN A replica Smith & Wesson firearm (pictured) that was used in a robbery was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) today (Wednesday).
Reaction Officers were on patrol on Old Inanda Road at approximately 13:04
when they were flagged down by the occupants of a Toyota Hiace taxi.
Officers were informed that two passengers robbed the conductor of R150 in cash and assaulted him before they fleeing on foot.
The mi ni bus pursued the suspects and noticed them get into the back of a Hyundai H100 bakkie when they flagged down Reaction Officers for assistance.
The victim lost sight of the vehicle but pointed out the direction in which it travelled.
Officers went in search of the suspects and noticed the bakkie parked on Trenance Drive.
The driver stated that the two passengers were hitch hiking when he stopped to give them a lift.
The two were dropped off at the entrance of
Trenance Park.
While interviewing the driver, RUSA Members noticed the firearm between the cab and the bin.
Upon inspection it was established that the firearm was a replica.
The victim provided a description of the men who had robbed him.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search of the area however they still remain at large.
