The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Team together with Crime Intelligence and officials from the Department of Environment Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) have seized illegally dried abalone with street value of about R2.7 million in Brackenfell.
Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, says the joint team conducted a search and seizure operation
where they uncovered an illegal abalone drying facility at Willow Creek in Brackenfell.
They seized more than 15 000 units of dried abalone weighing about 376 kilogrammes.
Hani says they continue to dismantle the mushrooming of illegal abalone facilities in Cape Town.
Two suspects have been arrested and are expected to appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrates Court tomorrow on charges of operating an illegal abalone processing facility."https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p403x403/154147187_3988814991170855_4798915596611250996_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=3&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=mRGShuPDgQsAX_PLLVx&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&tp=6&oh=2451dfb263ae5f8dc40e9f1ab6df66f3&oe=605CD638","https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p403x403/154035447_3988815071170847_7993543284430812818_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&ccb=3&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=J6otpfsc7wIAX8Gpmb5&_nc_oc=AQlU8eEDNBJXzk5h_qGsWgyb-HETNrv5lp5D52pxqT-Uj18srvpeFAiVJEkXNYc8v70&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&tp=6&oh=64ad18910d0c7ba14af67dff02bfab83&oe=605BCE07"
