Western Cape Health Minister Nomafrench Mbombo says there is a need for more interventions in the fight against Covid 19 in some areas of the West Coast district.

Mbombo and Premier Alan Winde visited Moorreesburg and the Vredendal hospital on Thursday.

Mbombo says covid-19 infections in the West Coast district are increasing:

"We see some the elements of decline in other aspects in the hospitals, the usage of oxygen, the deaths.

But on the West Coast the numbers are increasing a little bit.

The reason for us to be here is to provide that support and for us to hear from the local councillors what that they are doing."
