Police confiscate four Firearms and arrest suspects #GunsOffTheStreets
EASTERN CAPE - As the deadline for the Firearm Amnesty draws nearer, police in the Nelson Mandela Bay district continue in their endeavours to eradicate the proliferation of illegal Firearms.
On Thursday, 14/01 at about 20:20 detectives from
SAPS Motherwell followed up on information received of unlicensed Firearms at a house in NU 29 in Motherwell.
The information was operationalised and the house penetrated.
A 35-year-old man was found in the lounge with a black canvas bag on his lap.
The man was arrested for illegal possession of Firearms and ammunition.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
In another unrelated incident, Anti-Gang Unit members arrested a 23-year-old male at a house in Booysens Park Drive during the early hours of this morning, 15/01.
Members searched the house and a pistol was recovered.
The firearm is not reported stolen and ownership is being determined.
Also during the
early hours of this morning, 15/01, PE K9 Unit and NMB District Crime Combating Team members arrested a 49-old-woman on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
At about 01:20 this morning, members searched a house in Soweto-on-Sea and confiscated a pistol.
Ownership is being determined.
All the Firearms will be sent to ballistics for analysis.
