WATCH: At least 50 of the more than 600 abandoned Cape cormorant chicks that are currently being rescued from Robben Island have died.
Efforts are underway to transport the rest for admission to birdlife conservation group SANCOB in Table View.
Robben Island Museum is working together with SANCCOB, Two Oceans Aquarium and
the National Sea Rescue Institute to coordinate the rescue.
The chicks were abandoned by their parent birds and are too young to fend for themselves.
About 3000 breeding pairs of Cape Cormorants are found on the Island."https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t15.5256-10/133839144_265731248230224_5342768024052992417_n.jpg?_nc_cat=103&ccb=2&_nc_sid=f2c4d5&_nc_ohc=3Qg1L5rEHekAX-i7q8y&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&oh=caf4237368ddac6d48d86befd1e2bc80&oe=602617DD"
