The University of Stellenbosch has expressed shock and sadness following the death of the former Dean of the Faculty of AgriScience Professor Mohammad Karaan today.

It is unclear what he died from.

Prof Karaan also held a number of senior positions such as acting Vice Rector of the University as well as

president of the Maties Rugby club since 2018.
