Western Cape Education Minister Debbie Schäfer says investigations into the racism furore at Brackenfell high school shows that there is no evidence of racism regarding a private party that was organised for matrics by their parents. Watch the video further down.
She says the invitation was widely circulated on WhatsApp
groups and extended to all matric learners regardless of race.
Last month EFF supporters clashed with parents of white learners at the school when the party staged a protest outside the sc hool.
Schäfer says the school was aware that the event was happening, but because it was private, the approval of the principal or the School Governing Body was not needed: "The event was held at a private venue a wine farm on the 17th of October 2020 tickets cost R500 each.
The evidence is that invitations were circulated to all matric classes, learners from other schools were invited to attend and did so on the invitation that I have seen there is no mention of Brackenfell
