The body of 59 year-old man from Cape Town has been retrieved from Duncan Dock in Table Bay last night.
He is presumed to have drowned after falling overboard.
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says the circumstances are not clear at this stage, but an inquest docket has been opened:
"On arrival on the scene a search commenced for a man who had reportedly disappeared underneath the water after it's believed that he had fallen off a local fishing ve ssel that was moored at landing wall 4 DUNCAN DOCK, a fellow fishing vessel was on the scene assisting them, where the man had last been seen, during a scooba dive search the man's body was recovered by police divers, he sadly had died, the body was taken aboard a sea rescue craft and taken to the harbour police station and then taken into the care of the pathology services."
