Regional court today .
The 30-year-old female victim was asleep in her home in Sandrift near Alexander Bay on 03 July 2020 at 02:30.
She was awoken by someone undressing her and found the accused half naked.
He was also armed with a sharp object which he used to threaten the victim.
A struggle between the accused and the victim ensued and the victim screamed alerting her mother.
The accused fled the scene and was arrested on 05 July 2020.
On 27 November 2020, Warner Kotze was convicted as follows: Count 1 - Housebreaking with the intent to rape sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
Count 2 - Attempted Rape sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
