WATCH: Western Cape Community Safety Minister Albert Fritz has tested positive for Covid-19.
This has been revealed at the launch of the province's safety plan for the festive season in Phillippi on the Cape Flats.
The Western Cape is experiencing its second wave of the coronavirus.
Speaking at the event, City of Cape
Town Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith says Fritz learned of the news while engaged in zoom meeting to discuss crime fighting strategies between the city and the provincial government.
He then had to leave the virtual meeting to self-isolate.
The event in Phillippi is also being attended by provincial Police Commissioner General Yolisa Matakata.
