Afrikaans poet and writer of short stories and prose, Christine Barkhuizen le Roux has passed away in a hospital in Mossel Bay.
She was 61 years old.
Le Roux published her debut poetry collection "dimension" in 2000 and a collection of short stories "where cake and wine are lacking" the
next year.
Her first prose work of greater scope is the novel " Padmaker" in 2010.
It is a sensitive novel about the complex relationship between parent and child and the impact that one generation leaves on the next.
Her best known work is "drieklawerblaar" which tells the stories of Kate, a retired nurse, Tinneke, a widow and guest house owner, and her stubborn neighbour, Abel, a farmer.
Le Roux lived in Barrydale in the Little Karoo and leaves behind her husband and three children.
